The Fall Season starts in September, for those of you who haven’t finished painfully programming your DVR or TiVo to capture all the shows you are anxiously anticipating. Terminator Universe after the events that took place in Terminator 2. Sarah Connor (played by Lena Headey) is determined to protect her son from the ever-growing threat of alien technology that will undoubtedly be sent back to kill him; at the same time they must avoid capture by law enforcement now that they are fugitives.
Now I have to admit, I am a little rusty on my Terminator storyline. If I remember correctly Read the rest of this entry »
Heroes – Truth and Consequences aired in the U.S. on NBC 11/26/07
This week was the lead-up to the season finale due to the writer’s strike. Just like last week this episode was pact with content from start to finish. Rather than try and follow the episode from start to finish I am going to break down the episode by character. So let’s talk about Peter Petrelli, Claire Bennet, Hiro Nakamura, and Sylar… Read the rest of this entry »
Hereoes – Cautionary Tales aired in the US on 11/19/07 on NBC
This week’s episode began with Claire’s story. When we last left Claire, she and West had pulled a reckless stunt to embarrass the head cheerleader which had gotten them noticed in the paper. Her dad reacts strongly for a number of reasons, Claire has compromised their cover, she has a boyfriend and her dad is also reacting to Isaac’s painting that depicts him dead having been shot. Heroes – Four Months Ago aired on NBC 11/12/07
This week in Heroes we saw what happened “4 months ago”. It is an episode that was designed to fill in some of the gaps that we have had questions about since the season began. The majority of the episode focused on Peter, Adam and Nathan. Read the rest of this entry »
**This article discusses the events in Heroes episode “Out of Time” Spoiler Alert**
Things have been crazy at my house lately. I thought that since I finally graduated college that things would slow down when in fact I seem to have more to do now than I did before. This week I will begin with Heroes and hopefully I will get to Chuck before Friday when things start to get crazy.
H eroes – Out of Time
Let me start off by saying “Great Episode!” This is why I love Heroes, they set it up and then knock it out of the park. If you were paying attention to the 8 paintings that were painted by Isaac regarding the future you would have notice that to this point all but 2 have already come to pass and many of them occurred in this week’s episode. The remaining two were directly setup by the events in this episode. The remaining two I am referring to are Mohinder with a broken nose holding a gun that has just been fired and HRG dead having been shot.
The setup for these last two paintings is pretty straight forward. Bob has told Mohinder that Claire’s blood may hold the key to curing the new strain of virus that Mohinder can’t cure with his own blood. In order to test this, they need to bring Claire into the company. Obviously, HRG is never going to let that happen. Bob gives Mohinder a gun and indicates that he may have to kill HRG in order to bring Claire in. This is a great setup because it ties directly into the paintings, paintings that both men have already seen. It is almost a case of self-fulfilling prophecy.
HRG is obviously going to be wary of Mohinder and if Heroes is good at anything, it is steering the audience in one direction and then throwing a curve ball at them. I would not be surprised if all of the paintings and events that are pointing us to Mohinder shooting HRG in fact are leading to a different place where Mohinder shoots someone else. I think it is entirely possible that Claire’s boyfriend West is the one who kills HRG based on his reaction to him in this weeks episode. It may be Mohinder shooting West to try and protect HRG.
One thing that Bob didn’t really take into consideration is that if Mohinder does kill HRG, Claire will never willingly come into the company. I think that they underestimate both her ability to take care of herself and her ability to get out of bad situations. We do know however, that she sucks at hiding and laying low. See all evidence so far this season.
Parkman overcomes his dad’s abilities to save the lives of many that are under attack within the company. I was really pretty disappointed with this sequence. After all of the build up at the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2 this was a bit of a let down for me. I didn’t expect that defeating the vast mental abilities of Parkman’s dad was going to be a simple father-son “why didn’t you love me/ I did love you” speech. I think there was a great opportunity for some real suspense and terror here that was dropped. By the way, was there ANYONE who was surprised that Molly heard Matt when he said he loved her even though she was in a coma. How many thousand times have we seen that played out…
Peter and Adam, wow. I think most of us knew that in some form or fashion, Kensei was still around. There were a number of us who thought that he might even be the one killing all of the company members. It is beginning to look more and more like we were right. Now that Adam and Peter have reconnected, it is going to be fascinating to see what kind of dynamic exists between them.
Side note, the absolute best moment of the show is when Peter and Caitlin are being carted off to quarantine, he rushes up to the chain-link fence and grabs her hands trying to teleport them back and he makes it but she doesn’t. His realization that he had left her in the future and didn’t know how to get back to her gave me chills. I love it, I can’t wait to see how that is resolved.
As for Hiro returning to the future, some things to think about. Kensei vowed to Hiro that as long as he lived, he would make sure that Hiro suffered. He accomplished this in part by killing his dad. However, I don’t think we have seen the last of Yiko, I think that Kensei still has something horrible in store for her, even though Hiro has returned to the present.
I am also very anxious for Sylar and Adam to meet. What a great evil duo the two of them would make. Would Sylar kill Adam to steal his power or would they work together to take over the world. I can only imagine what kind of things the Heroes’ writers can do with that.
I will leave it at that, I tried to throw in a few topics to think about, I will give you a couple of my predictions now.
Peter will spend the next 4 episodes thinking Adam is his buddy. The last episode before the holiday break will have a big confrontation between the two of them.
HRG will not die, I would not be surprised if he tries to kill West.
Don’t for one second think that West is who he says he is, I guarantee that he will end up being one of Adam’s disciples before too long. Claire and West will end up on opposite sides of this war, I guarantee it.
Sylar will kill Alejandro in order to take his power permanently tying Maria to himself.
My going out on a limb prediction… Nathan Petrelli will be dead before the end of the season. I hate to say it, because I love his character, but Adam will kill him and that will be the wedge driven between Peter and Adam that starts the war.
** Spoiler Warning, this post discusses plotlines that include episodes of each show up to the episodes that aired in the US the week of October 21 through 27th. **
Heroes airs on NBC 8:00pm CST
Heroes, once again, a stellar episode of Heroes; each week they are giving us just a little bit more of each plotline. We were introduced to Kristen Bell’s character this week. A girl with the ability to produce lightning, she is in Ireland on the hunt for Peter. In trying to find him she kills a friend of his, putting himself and his new love in danger. Peter decides that it is time to face his past and go in search of his past and who he used to be. It is indicated that he will take his new love interest with him.
Matt and Nathan go to Philadelphia to confront Matt’s father, initially he portrays himself as a helpless old man in hiding, we quickly learn through his attack on Matt and Nathan, that he is perfectly capable of doing the nightmarish things to Molly that she had described, in addition to imprisoning her in her own mind. He has also received a portion of the torn photograph with the Godsend symbol indicating that whoever is killing the people in the photo is now after him as well. I anticipate that the ability to plant thoughts in someone’s mind is an additional power that Matt will eventually learn about. This is the first time that we have seen a power that was directly transferred from parent to child that we know of. Claire’s dad Nathan has the ability to fly; her mother could control fire, so although she received a power it was not the same as her parents. Micah has different powers from Nikki and DL. It will be interesting to see what other heroes find that their parents had the same power.
Dana in Louisiana learns a little bit more about her power in that she is a copycat, it appears that she has tremendous muscle memory simply from viewing an act, she can re-create it.
We learn a little bit more about Hiro’s adventures with Kensei, I still feel that when it is all said and done, he is going to make some kind of play for Kensei’s girlfriend. This might lead to some kind of ripple effect through time, we will have to wait and see.
I am very anxious for Sylar to make it back to the U.S. I am curious to see what his next move is going to be once he is back. I anticipate that he will go to the company in some fashion and try to get them to fix him and give him his powers back. Although I doubt it, it would be great if Claire was somehow involved.
Speaking of Claire, she was not present in this episode. The tenth wonder podcast makes reference to this being the first episode of the series in which Claire does not appear. I don’t know if there is any significance to that or not, however, you can bet that she will be a central character in this week’s episode.
