Monsters vs. Aliens

April 20, 2009

200px-monsters-vs-aliens-posterI took my two boys to see Aliens vs. Monsters this weekend or was it Monsters vs. Aliens? Can’t remember. It was a great movie, some of the highlights, Reese Witherspoon is a talented voice actor, very nice performance. While I didn’t see it in a 3-D theatre I would recommend it, there are some really great 3-D opportunities there. I think the story was pretty entertaining and it is wrapped up in a nice little 90 minute package.

This didn’t rival some of the greats, Read the rest of this entry »

Clone Wars – The Good and The Bad

August 21, 2008

My wonderful wife told me Tuesday evening that I needed to get out of the house for the night and go see Star Wars – Clone Wars. I won’t go into a long speech about how this makes her, hands down, the most wonderful woman on the planet, I think that is implied. So I hopped in the minivan, sans children, and went to catch the latest Star Wars movie in theatres.

I was a little bit apprehensive. I have heard mixed reviews about the latest installment of Star Wars, it seems however, that the mixed reviews follow much the same pattern as all Star Wars movies; critics don’t like it, average movie goer loves it. I went into the theater just hoping that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Read the rest of this entry »

Door to Door Salesmen – I thought you were dead?

January 5, 2008

Last night at about 8pm in the middle of “Legend of Zorro” which was playing on TNT, there was a knock on our front door. It was a door-to-door salesman trying to sell us a subscription to the weekly paper.

Eragon – Another Book Murdered by a Movie

January 3, 2008

This article is going to seem severely off-topic from the rest of my content because it delves into the realm of fantasy where I usually cover more science fiction. There are some people who feel that the two genres cannot mix, some people swear by Sci-Fi and despise fantasy and others love fantasy and want nothing to do with Sci-Fi. Then there are people like me Read the rest of this entry »

National Treasure – Not really a treasure.

December 27, 2007

national-treasure-2.jpeg I went to the movies on Tuesday night and saw the new National Treasure 2 movie. I was a fan of the first movie, while I am not a huge Nicolas Cage fan for reasons I will elaborate on later; I do like the premise of the movie and the approach that they take.

I think it was wise of the director to take the action star out of the action film especially when your “action star” is Nicolas Cage. Read the rest of this entry »

Indiana Jones – Indy 4 Update

November 30, 2007

News on the Indiana Jones front. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is scheduled for release May 22, 2008. Members of the cast include Harrison Ford (obviously), Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, John Hurt, and Karen Allen. The official site for the film is here.
I have to say that the pictures of Harrison Ford in his Indy gear look great. He doesn’t seem to have aged a day. Obviously, he is a tad bit older than he was in the last Indy movie but you wouldn’t know it by looking at him, it may be apparent in his movements but I would venture a guess that Harrison Ford at his age is probably in better shape than I am.
